“You must take the grace of Baptism and become light for all.”

Several generations of faith were present at our  November gatherings.  During our time together we talked about our own baptism and parents spoke with their children about the time the children were brought to church to be baptized.    Many families brought baptismal garments, candles, pictures and gifts received at the time of baptism.

Recently our Holy Father, Pope Francis,  said this about baptism:

“Baptism illuminates us from within with the light of Jesus.  In virtue of this gift, the baptized are called to become “light” – the light of the faith they have received for their brothers, especially for those who are in darkness and do not perceive glimmers of light on the horizon of their life.”

“You must take the grace of Baptism, that is a gift, and become light for all!” the Pope exclaimed.

Pope Francis asked that we find out the date of our baptism ~  “the day in which you were born into the Church.”
