Lifelong Learning of our Catholic Faith

Since 1765 the community at St. Joseph Church has actively engaged in passing on the faith from one generation to the next so as to form its members into followers of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Catechesis is an education in the faith of children, young people, and adults which includes especially the teaching of Christian doctrine imparted…in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiating the hearers into the fullness of Christian life.

– Prologue of the Catechism of the Catholic Church

250 years later, the community in West Milford continues to promote the mission of Jesus by:

  • Participation in Church Life: By participating in the life of the church, especially Sunday worship, prayer and the sacraments, the faith of individuals and the whole family is strengthened and deepened.
  • Inter-generational Learning and Faith Reflection: By participating in the gatherings of Generations of Faith, families have a shared experienced of learning together, praying together, and celebrating rituals and traditions. Through specific activities, opportunities are given to families and individuals so they can reflect on and share what they learned and how this learning relates to their everyday lives.
  • Faith Practice at Home: Individuals and families are given the resources they need to live their faith at home and form beautiful Catholic customs.
